The Rotary Club of Tustin – Santa Ana provides support to organizations that serve residents of  Tustin, Santa Ana and all of Orange County.  We also support many projects worldwide that exemplify “Service Above Self.”  Tustin – Santa Ana Rotary lunch meetings feature speakers on topics of interest to the business, service, and retired citizens.

Starting January 2020, our regular weekly club meetings are Thursdays at noon at the Santa Ana Elks Lodge Building.  Members are expected to attend at least two meetings a month. Other meetings, including Satellite Meetings are scheduled and will appear on the club calendar.

Presenter for this week's meeting: Jason Hartwig. Director of Education and Programming at Petersen Automotive Museum.

The Petersen Automotive Museum is located on Wilshire Blvd. along Museum Row in the Miracle Mile section of Los Angeles. Founded in June, 1994, by magazine publisher Robert Petersen, the Petersen is one of the world’s largest automotive museums. The museum is a nonprofit organization specializing in automotive history and related educational programs. The museum has over 100 vehicles on display in its 25 galleries, as well as a vault in the basement. The exhibits include such vehicles as a 1956 Jaguar XKSS (formerly owned by Steve McQueen), a De Tomaso Pantera (which belonged to Elvis Presley), and a rare 1939 Porsche 64, one of only two in existence.

Speaker of the Day: David Malmad, Senior Docent, Lyon Air Museum

Founded by Major General William Lyon, Lyon Air Museum is located on the west side of John Wayne Airport. Lyon Air Museum is collocated with Martin Aviation, an award winning jet, turbo-prop and piston-powered aircraft repair facility established in 1923 by famed aviation pioneer Eddie Martin.

The Lyon Air Museum exhibits are comprised of authentic aircraft, rare vehicles and related memorabilia, with emphasis on the defining event of the 20th century – World War II. Through captivating and thought provoking exhibits based in historical scholarship, visitors gain a better understanding of the important role the United States plays in shaping world history.

Today's speaker was Hilda Pacheco of Corazon de Vida. Corazon de Vida is a charity organization based locally supporting orphaned and abandoned children in Baja Mexico. They support 10+ orphanages and change the lives of the children who are victims of poverty in the region. I have come to know some of these kids personally over the last few years and the support Corazon de Vida provides has truly changed their lives.
