Surfrider Foundation, Newport beach Chapter

Presenter:  Beth Belk, Newport Beach Executive Committee

The Surfrider Foundation USA is a grassroots non-profit environmental organization that works to protect and preserve the world’s oceans, waves and beaches. It focuses on water quality, beach access, beach and surf spot presentation and protecting marine and coastal ecosystems. Headquartered in San Clemente, the Surfrider Foundation maintains a small staff, which work to support the organization’s network of regional chapters.  It was started in Malibu in 1984 by a handful of surfers to protest threats to their local surfing area at Malibu.  Today the Surfrider Foundation maintains over 50,000 members in 80 chapters worldwide. The Newport Beach chapter in 2019 had 42 beach cleanups and removed over 7700 pounds of trash from local beaches.  Come and learn about what the Surfrider Foundation is all about!

Open invitation, all are welcome!!!
