Corazón exists to serve the poor and everything we do is powered by people, people who are heartened by helping the poor.  Corazón relies on compassionate, energetic and generous volunteers, partners and donors who understand that they can make a difference by giving to the poor.Since 1978, Corazón has mobilized hundreds of U.S. and Mexican volunteers to work in the poor communities of Tecate and Tijuana, Mexico where many are living conditions that are simply untenable.  It is no wonder that nearly half of Tijuana’s population of 1.3 million residents live on less than US$200 per month.

Louise’s skill set is diverse but what makes her well suited to lead Corazón is her firsthand understanding of poverty. Growing up in poor communities of Los Angeles, Louise knows what it takes to break the barriers of poverty. But she didn’t do it alone. Her migrant parents promoted education in earnest, and she benefitted from community programs like Corazon that invested in improving the quality of life for families. Louise has over 25 years of experience across multiple industries and geographic regions. Before joining Corazón, Louise worked on healthcare projects with non-profit groups in Peru, Morocco, and Uganda. She worked for Kaiser Permanente for 11 years, managing patient and physician education departments. She also was a Community Wellness Project Manager for St Francis Medical Center, implementing health and fitness programs for under-resourced communities in South Los Angeles. For over ten years, Louise was part of the pioneering team of Spinning Master Instructors that certified fitness instructors worldwide. Early in her career, Louise was a Financial Analyst and International Banking Officer at Wells Fargo’s International Banking Division in San Francisco. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles. (UCLA).
