HomeShare OC is a non-profit organization, part of Homeless Intervention Services of OC, that connects people with a spare room with college students who are struggling financially and on the verge of dropping out of higher education.  The mission of HomeShare OC is to provide students an opportunity to pursue their educational goals, while enriching the lives of seniors through shared housing.  The UCLA Center for Transformation of Schools found that one in five community college students, one in 10 California State University students and one in twenty University of California students experienced homelessness during the year.  Home-sharing has the proven benefits of reducing housing and food insecurities, decreasing isolation and depression, and increasing the sense of belonging and purpose.
