ANNUAL HOLIDAY AUCTION PROVIDES FUNDING
FOR THE TUSTIN-SANTAANA ROTARY CLUB FOUNDATION
On December 6th, Tustin-Santa Ana Rotary held its annual Holiday Auction and Raffle at its luncheon meeting. The price of admission was a wrapped raffle item and opportunities were presented to purchase raffle tickets. Spouses and guests were invited to come and bid on potential Christmas gifts for their family and friends from among the thirty-two live auction items. Bidding became heated when several people bid on such interesting items as a Magic Castle Pass, a pink laptop case complete with massage and day spa passes, Tickets to the Annual Concert at the Irvine Barclay Theatre with an Invitation to the Opening Night Backstage Reception, the new "Tickle Me Elmo" doll, a Duffy Boat Ride for six from Newport Beach Including Drinks and Hors d'ouvres, a Sony Play Station 3, and other wonderful donated items.
A highlight of the event was a check for $1,350.00 to the Friends of the Santa Ana Zoo by "Santa Bruce" Grant. This was raised by the Club's hotdog and drink concession at the Boo-at-the-Zoo weekend during Halloween.
Proceeds from the raffle went toward the cost of the guests' lunches. Proceeds from the live auction, a total of $4,280.00 went to the Tustin-Santa Ana Rotary Club Foundation, a registered charitable Corporation which funds the Annual Foundation Awards in June to non-profit organizations which have made application for a specific project to be given consideration for an award of between $500 and $1,000. Last year nine awards of $1,000.00 each were presented to the Tustin Public Schools Foundation, Assistance League of Santa Ana, Orange County ARC, Blind Children's Learning Center, the Tustin Area Council for The Arts, Boys and Girls Club of Santa Ana, Disabled Sports USA-OC, Mater Dei High School, and Laurel House.
Erin Kociela, Fundraising Chair, worked with members of her committee, Dick Gerlach, Alice LeDoux, Jill Spencer and Executive Secretary, Rose Mary Kovacs, on soliciting auction items from local businesses as well as members and friends of the Club.
